      hello. I am from Pasadena. I am now 41 years old and I had some run ins with the NSP Oak St crew when I was a little kid, around 10-12 yrs old.

      Would it be okay with you if I ask some questions about the gang?
      I write stories and the period in the mid 80’s when you guys were skins is very interesting to me.
      I was heavy into punk rock at the time and the craziness and violence of the punk gangs is something I want to know more about.

        I am originally from that area and I am 46 years old. The North Side Firm in the 1980’s was a bunch of white boys from the San Gabriel Valley who suddenly decided to be racist and stop talking to their Mexican friends. Some of them even were Mexican themselves but looked white. I think they were a belated backlash to the identity politics of the Latino and black communities of the 1970’s. They listened to punk and increasingly became identified with the skinhead movement. The rumor mill at the time told me that some dude (name I forgot) who was allegedly the leader of that group had a crush on me and wanted to meet me. Joke’s on him, I am half Latina but passed for totally white at the time. I did not pursue it as I was actually afraid of them. They were racist and creepy poser jerks.

          Wasn’t the North Side Firm skinheads originally? I remember people talking about them back in the 80’s and saying they were white skinheads. I later heard the group had a big change and went cholo. Any truth to any of this?

          North Side Firm we’re far from being racists. They were made up of White Boys, Latinos, African American, and Asian kids through out the San Gabriel Valley and North East LA. The gang was listed as one of the very few multi racial gangs in Los Angeles during the early1980s from the LA County Sheriffs Department. They ran with North Side Pasadena Oak St as well as the Highland Boys in ELA. No nazis ever ran with North Side Firm.

    My dad grew up in Pasadena, as did I, and he has always told me stories about having NSP provide security at house parties back in the late 70s. (Probably between ’74-’78) He said the only guy he remembers used to go by the name of “Block”. Can anyone tell me more about this period of the gangs history?

    VPC used to be a car club (if I remember correctly), then turned into a gang. During the mid 90’s they disappeared. Probably incaresarted, deported etc.

    Dam! It’s crazy to hear all this familiar names. I grew up mostly on villa and hill. I wasn’t from NSP but I was down with them cause all my homies were from NSP jokers. We use to hang out at John Peters house aka Chino. Had homies from Oak St. My dear friend Scrappy (RIP), Hoser, Lacky, Pumking and so on. Hey Mr do you remember when we got down with Snapper and some other vato from VPR at Washington middle school? And getting sent to continuation school on Del Mar where Lacky was going. It was not fun being out numbered 3 against the whole school! Well at least it seemed! Good times!
