Logan Heights Gang Members Prohibited From Congregating
City Obtains Temporary Restraining Order Against Red Stripes Gang
SAN DIEGO -- San Diego prosecutors Friday obtained a temporary restraining order prohibiting members of a Logan Heights gang from congregating.

One alleged member of the Logan Heights Red Stripes gang was present at Friday's hearing on the civil action filed by the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.

The next hearing on the matter is Nov. 22.

"The purpose of the gang injunctions is to make communities safer," said District Attorney Paul Pfingst. "If gang members aren't hanging out together on street corners, drive-by shootings are less likely to occur."

A number of Logan Heights Red Stripes gang members have been convicted of a series of crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, assault and vandalism, according to Pfingst's office.

A gang injunction prevents members from associating with each other, wearing gang clothes and "throwing gang signs," prosecutors said.

On Wednesday, police began contacting the roughly three dozen gang members named in the action to notify them about Friday's hearing.
