Pablo Escobar was the biggest cocaine druglord, in the history of Colombia and the United States. He ruled the Colombian Medellin Cartel with an iron fist, by murdering police officers, judges, and presidential candidates. The documentary traces Escobar's rise to power as a young boy from Medellin. By the 1970s he became the main drug dealer in Columbia and one of the most ruthless cartel leaders, creating his own army, killing Supreme Court justices, blowing up commercial plane Avianca, and killing several presidential candidates who were pro extradition to the US, something that Escobar feared.

Interviews include DEA agents, Javier Pena - DEA, US Ambassador to Columbia, President Gaviria (1990-1994), Columbian officials, survivors to Escobar's terror, Mark Bowden author of Killing Pablo, and experts on the subject.

When Columbia banned extradition in their constitution, Escobar decided to turn himself in to the justice department, but the twist was he served his time in a prison he built which was more like a resort. When he assasinated two people in his own prison, the US assisted the Columbian governement to track down Pablo Escobar, but eventually Escobar's empire started to crumble. An organization calling themselves Los Pepes (People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar), begang to target Escobar's circle in the same ruthless fashion as Escobar did. Another drug cartel, Cali Cartel, also assisted in bringing down Pablo Escobar.
