GARDENA, Calif.  — A major crackdown on a street gang in Gardena landed nearly a dozen suspects behind bars early Wednesday morning. Authorities accuse the gang of spreading fear and crime in the city.

Authorities say it’s all part of an extensive murder and drug investigation.

L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Gardena Police Department and members of the Drug Enforcement Administration, served search warrants at multiple locations throughout L.A. County starting at 5 a.m., including Gardena, Compton, Long Beach, El Monte, Harbor City and Los Angeles.

Eleven suspects were arrested. The suspects allegedly belong to a Hispanic criminal street gang in Gardena, but police did not release name of the gang.

Along with the arrests, officials seized cash and a large quantity of methamphetamine. Police would not put a street value on the drugs seized.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities said there may be more arrests.
