LA Times | January 27, 2011
A Pomona elementary school was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon following what authorities described as a gang-related shooting near the campus.
One person was wounded in the 2:40 p.m. shooting in the 600 block of East Philadelphia Street, near Philadelphia Elementary School, said Lt. Ronald McDonald of the Pomona Police Department.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, McDonald said.
There have been no arrests, and police are searching for the shooter, he said. Philadelphia Park, where the shooting occurred, is frequented by gang members, McDonald said.
