AUGUSTA, GA – Richmond County authorities have arrested three men for gang activity that they believe sparked Tuesday morning’s shooting death of Augusta teen Brandon Desean Taylor.

Kenneth Anderson, 18, of Golden Leaf Lane, Treshawn Cummings, 17, of Winchester Court, and an unidentified juvenile were charged Wednesday with aggravated assault and unlawful street gang activity, said Richmond County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Peebles.

Peebles said investigators believe that Taylor’s shooting on Monte Carlo Drive was retaliation for gunfire the night before.

Two men were charged earlier this week in that death.

Brandon Ira Le’Keith Helm, 18, of Warwick Place in Hephzibah, and Darian Deandre Postell, 19, of Thames Place in Hephzibah were charged with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Helm, who has been identified as Taylor’s shooter by police, and a juvenile were walking through the Pepperidge Subdivision on Monday night when they were chased and shot at because they were recognized as opposing gang members, Peebles said.

“It has been learned that Helm believed that Taylor was one of the individuals who shot at him, and revenge for this incident was the motive for Taylor’s murder several hours later,” Peebles said.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified many gang members from the area because of the investigation and is now targeting those individuals, he said, adding more arrests are expected.
