Mexican drug cartel goes low tech on drug trafficking technique Staff
January 28, 2011

US agents discovered a 3-yard-tall catapult that was used to vault packets of marijuana into the United States, over the border. Drug smugglers decided that this medieval technology would be more effective than using trucks, cars, buses or boats.

The catapult was discovered in Naco, Mexico by National Guard personnel who were monitoring the feed from video cameras installed along the Arizona-Sonora border and the entire smuggling routine was captured on a video.

Mexican authorities seized 45 pounds of marijuana, an SUV and the catapult.
