LA Cops Seek Gangsters in Mayan Club Shooting

Police on Sunday sought help to identify suspected gang members responsible for a shooting that left a man dead and three others wounded outside the Mayan nightclub in downtown Los Angeles.

The shooting happened before 3 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Hill Street and Olympic Boulevard.

Witnesses told police a group of men began arguing and shouting gang names outside the club before the shooting.

One man got a gun from a car in a nearby parking lot and started shooting.

“There were dozens of people around when this happened and we’re sure someone knows who the shooter is,” said LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Central Detective Division. “But, typically, few people come forward when gangs are involved, but stepping up is the best way to reduce gang activity.”
