Gang prevention summit set Saturday in Salinas

Salinas_CA gang meetingA panel that includes former gangbangers and wannabes will discuss gang violence at a community forum set for Saturday in Salinas.

Hosted by the Boy & Girls Clubs of Monterey County, the “CROSSROADS Gang Prevention Summit” will address the No. 1 youth crime problem facing the city.

Some of the panelists grew up in and around gangs. They will share how their personal decisions led them into or away from the gang subculture. The event includes a community resource fair at noon featuring 18 local programs and agencies.

All are welcome. The event is free and open to the public and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Salinas Clubhouse, 85 Maryal Drive.
