Reputed gang members in custody after shots fired at officers

Two reputed gang members suspected of shooting at detectives in Wilmington were taken into custody, police said Tuesday night.

Officers were searching for third man Tuesday night in connection with gunshots that were fired at Los Angeles Police Department detectives who were searching for an attempted murder suspect shortly after 4 p.m., Cmdr. Andrew Smith said.

About half a dozen shots were fired at the Harbor Division detectives, but they were not hit and did not return fire, the LAPD said. Police saturated the area and set up a perimeter Tuesday afternoon as they looked for the attackers.  Smith said police knew the identity of the third suspect.
