SF PD atty arrestedAfter a veteran San Francisco public defender was arrested last week for intervening between a group of police officers and her client, her office has released video footage of the arrest, CBS-SF reported.

In the footage, Deputy Public Defender Jami Tillotson is seen refusing to step aside while a police officer tries taking a cellphone picture of her client at the Hall of Justice Tuesday (Jan. 27), the report said. When threatened with arrest, Tillotson is seen calmly telling the officers, ‘please do,’ after which she is promptly handcuffed and taken to a holding cell, according to the report.

“Public defenders have a duty to protect the constitutional rights of their clients,” Tillotson said at a press conference last week, according to the report.

“It was surreal to be led away in handcuffs for doing my job, something I do every day.”
