Long Beach gang member charged in cold murder case pleads not guilty
LONG BEACH — A gang member arrested earlier this year for the killings of three Long Beach people in 2001 and 2002 pleaded not guilty to the crimes Monday.
Juan Pablo Camacho, 33, is charged with murder in the shooting deaths of Richard Murillo, 30, and Murillo’s girlfriend, Carrie Waltier, 33, in October of 2001.
Murillo was found gunned down on Oct. 14, 2001, after Long Beach Police were sent to an alley in the 6600 block of Rose Avenue on a call of shots fired.
Waltier’s body was discovered about two hours later in the 10000 block of Pinehurst Street in South Gate and authorities learned the pair were together shortly before their deaths, police said earlier this year.
The third victim, 32-year-old Richard Graves, was found dead on May 19, 2002, after police responded to a call of shots fired in the 300 block of East Esther Street in Long Beach.
