Authorities searched today for the gunman who shot and ki*led a 17-year-old boy during an apparently gang-related outbreak of violence on an MTA bus in Hyde Park.

The shooting occurred when the bus stopped at Crenshaw Boulevard and West 60th Street about 9:05 p.m. Monday, said Officer Karen Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

The victim was exiting the bus when he got into a dispute with the blankailant, Smith said, adding that the two were apparently members of rival gangs.

The gunman opened fire, shooting the victim in the head, exited the bus and fled, Smith said.

The victim was declared dead at the scene, police said. His name was not immediately released.

The teen’s family members arrived at the scene during the investigation, an On Scene Video camera crew reported, adding that one relative was so distraught he had a seizure and was taken to a hospital by an ambulance.

LAPD gang and homicide detectives were handling the investigation, according to a watch commander at the LAPD’s 77th Street Station.
