Police: Man beaten after catching taggers

EUGENE W. FIELDS (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER) | February 25, 2011

ANAHEIM – One adult and three juveniles are in custody after police said they beat a man who caught them tagging Thursday night.

Anaheim police Sgt. Lorenzo Glenn said officers responded to a call of a fight in progress at about 9:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Mungall Drive.

Police said a man was driving home and saw someone tagging in an alley by his home.

Glenn said the man confronted the taggers, who then started beating him.

“One of them broke a beer bottle over his head and another started kicking him,” Glenn said. “Another person had a metal rod and started beating the victim with it.”

After the beating, police said, the attackers fled on foot and were arrested on suspicion of blankault with a deadly weapon, tagging and related gang enhancements.
