$200,000 Reward For Those Who Have Tried To Kill Calif. Anti-Gang Police

After three attempts on the lives of officers working on a Riverside County, Calif., anti-gang task force, authorities are now offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
The Los Angeles Times and Riverside Press-Enterprise report that since December in Hemet, Calif.:
– A utility line has been tampered with to redirect gas into the task force’s office, presumably so that a spark might cause an explosion. The sabotage was discovered before anything happened.
– A handgun has been hidden near a gate so that when that gate swung open, it fired. A resulting gunshot narrowly missed one officer, the Times says.
– Some type of dangerous device (authorities haven’t released details) was attached to an officer’s car.
Yesterday, California Attorney General Jerry Brown called the attempts “urban terrorism.”
The Hemet Police Department has previously said that “anyone with information is urged to call (it) at 951-765-2400.
The Press-Enterprise says the Hemet-San Jacinto Gang Task Force has been probing the connection between Mexican drug cartels and “Southern California motorcycle and street gangs.”
