SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — A man was fatally shot at a San Bernardino house party Sunday. Authorities are searching for the suspect. The incident was caught on home surveillance.
Police said the shooting occurred on the 5500 block of Osborne Court at 1:20 a.m. When officers arrived, they found Deandre Williams, 27, of Rialto, on the ground near the driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Medical aid responded, but Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
“To actually see that type of incident happen in this neighborhood, that was completely shocking to me,” said Jeff Lengyel.
Surveillance shows white flashes as the suspect opens fire and partygoers take off running.
“Last night I was just lying in bed at like 1:30 in the morning, and I heard like six gunshots go off,” said Andres Montada.
Police said a party with an excess of about 50 people was taking place at the residence when the shooting occurred. The home’s occupants are students from California State University, San Bernardino. Police say the home is notoriously known as a party house. Officials say they have responded to noise calls at the home several times in the past.
“They don’t really clean up well for themselves as they walk, or stagger, to their cars, but, you know, it’s just standard complaints, and usually police come, they’re pretty compliant, and everyone just leaves as you’d expect,” said Lengyel.
Residents at the home, who did not want to speak on-camera, said the suspect targeted Williams, simply shooting him in the head. They say they do not know who the shooter is.
The suspect was described as a short black male adult in his 20s. It remains unknown if the incident was gang-related; the motive has not been determined.
