PINOLE — Three men were hospitalized Saturday morning after being stabbed by gang members outside a liquor store, according to police.

Two of the victims pulled into the parking lot of Jay Vee Liquors on the corner of Pinole Valley Road and Estates Ave a little after midnight Saturday when the passenger of the vehicle apparently made eye contact with three or four men across the street at a Chevron gas station. Sgt. Matthew Messier said the eye contact alone prompted the men at the gas station to suspect the passenger of being a member of a rival gang.

A passenger was stabbed by the men, and when the car’s driver and a liquor store employee came to break up the fight, they too were stabbed.

Pinole police pulled the suspect’s vehicle over just past the Cummings Skyway exit. Richard Torres, 21, of Vallejo, Gustavo Hildalgo, 28, of Fairfield and Sean Deering, 22, of Fairfield, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder with a gang enhancement.

James Regalia, 25, of San Pablo, Kevin Simon, 25, of Concord and Michael Baker, 18, of Pinole, were released from the hospital.
