Monday, March 31, 2003 – VAN NUYS — Coroner’s officials today identified the victim of a weekend gang slaying, while LAPD detectives continued looking for the gunman.

Salvador Celis, 18, of Canoga Park, was fatally shot about 8:40 p.m. Sunday while standing at a bus stop at Roscoe Boulevard and Willis Avenue, said Los Angeles police Officer Jason Lee.

“He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso,” Lee said. “It looks like it is gang-related.”

The suspect is described as an 18- to 25-year-old Latino, 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds, wearing a gray sweat shirt and blue pants.

Van Nuys detective Al Aldez said the gunman investigators are trying to piece together the events that led to the shooting.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Van Nuys detectives at (818) 756-8371.
