SAN JOSE, Calif.—Police have arrested two suspected gang members in connection with a brazen lunchtime shooting outside a San Jose McDonald’s that left an 18-year-old man dead.Police say 18-year-olds Brandon Wantland and Raymundo Nava, both of San Jose face homicide charges after their arrests on Friday.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that investigators believe the alleged Norteno gang members were driving when they spotted Ruben Cortez Jr. near a bus stop on March 16.

Police say Wantland shot Cortez in the back of the head near a crowded intersection next to the fast-food restaurant and fled with Nava. Cortez died the next day.

Police believe the shooting was gang-related even though Cortez has not been identified as a gang member.

Police say they have recovered evidence from Nava’s house and video surveillance that connect the suspects to the murder.
