About 30 people were arrested early Tuesday as NYPD officers and federal agents descended upon three East Harlem housing projects during a massive gang and drug takedown, officials said.
Dressed in olive drab fatigues, body armor and sporting assault rifles, police and FBI agents kicked in apartment doors at the Washington Houses on Second Ave. and E. 102nd St, the Metro North Plaza Houses on E. 101st St. near First Ave. and the Lexington Houses on Lexington Ave. and E. 99th St. about 5 a.m.
Members of the street gang the Broad Day Shooters — including its leader, identified only by his street name “El Chapo” — were among those taken into custody.
