2 dozen charged with Mexican Mafia drug ring in LA

Pasadena Star-News

LOS ANGELES – Two dozen alleged gang members have been charged in Los Angeles federal court with participating in a drug ring associated with the Mexican Mafia.

FBI and Los Angeles police say 16 people were arrested Wednesday in raids that resulted from an investigation of gangs in the San Fernando Valley. Another nine suspects were already in custody.

Beginning in January 2008, investigators targeted the drug ring with wire taps, surveillance and confidential sources. Agents bought narcotics and weapons from the suspects and seized guns, drugs and cash during several morning raids.
