Ventura County Star | April 22, 2012

A Saticoy man was arrested in connection with a gang shooting and hit and run that took place Saturday night, Ventura police said.

Police received reports of shots being fired in the 1500 block of South Saticoy Street at 11:55 p.m. When they arrived on scene, police found shell casings and vehicles that had been hit, officials said.

Santiago Gomez, 19, is suspected of shooting at a group of gang members, then hitting several vehicles as he drove away, said Cmdr. Juan Reynoso.

The sheriff’s department assisted in the search after receiving calls of the car’s whereabouts, authorities said.

Police were led to the suspect’s home in the 11000 block of Nardo Street where they served a search warrant and impounded the vehicle, police said.

Gomez was arrested for negligently discharging a firearm, conspiracy to commit a felony, multiple counts of hit and run and commission of a gang-related crime, police said.

As of now, Gomez is the only suspect, police said.

Gomez is being held at the Ventura County jail.
