CONCORD — A teen boy was cut with a knife Wednesday afternoon when he and a friend were attacked by seven or eight other boys. Concord police believe the attack was gang-related.

The two boys, who belong to one gang, were walking home from school along Mayfair Avenue, near Richard Avenue, at 1:15 p.m., police Cpl. Jim Carroll said.

They were approached by a group of teens that belonged to another gang and a fight ensued. One of the teens from the larger group had a knife and attempted to stab the victims, one of whom suffered a minor cut.

The attackers dispersed before police arrived, and the victim was treated at John Muir Medical center in Concord.
