PATERSON — — A gang leader who escaped from a central Florida jail is in custody in New Jersey after being on the lam for more than two months.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Rigby was arrested Tuesday night by the Paterson Police Department. New Jersey authorities were investigating an unrelated criminal case when they received a tip about Rigby, who was later arrested at a public housing complex.

The U.S. Marshals Service has been tracking Rigby around the country since he escaped on Feb. 19. He’s wanted on five counts of attempted murder and escape charges.

Shortly after he fled, he was seen in a motel video in Raleigh, N.C. with an unidentified woman.

Thirty corrections officers from the jail were disciplined after the escape. Nearly a dozen have been fired.
