As Monday night’s family friendly Cinco de Mayo festival in Roseland wound down, a group of suspected gang rivals wound up, leading to posturing, fighting and arrests, according to Sonoma County sheriff’s officials.

Deputies arrested nine suspected male gang members, teens and adults, and Santa Rosa police officers arrested one suspected female teen gang member.

They were suspected of crimes ranging from misdemeanor challenging rivals to fight to felonies including possessing a weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, sheriff’s Sgt. Brandon Austin said Tuesday.

Austin, who supervises the county’s multi-agency gang enforcement team, said members of rival gangs began arriving at the festival at about 6:30 p.m. and settled into groups of about 15 to 25 on either side of Sebastopol Road.
