A 19-year-old man has been charged with the gang-related killing last month in San Jose of a man near West San Carlos Street, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

Jose Jesus Torres, 19, whose residence is unknown to authorities, was arrested May 5 by San Jose police, according to the district attorney’s office. The district attorney’s office alleged in the criminal complaint that Torres killed 20-year-old Jose Antonio Vega Calderon for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

San Jose police did not comment on the arrest, saying their investigation is ongoing.

Calderon’s body was found April 21 after police received reports of a fight at Willard Avenue and San Carlos Street west of downtown. Calderon suffered stab and gunshot wounds, police said at the time.

Calderon later died at a hospital. He is San Jose’s seventh homicide victim of 2010. There have been two more homicides since his killing.
