LANCASTER – A suspect has been arrested in the stabbing death of a man outside a Lancaster nightclub last week, a sheriff’s investigator said Wednesday.

Michael King, a 22-year-old Lancaster man, was arrested Tuesday at a friend’s home in the 1100 block of 112th Street East in Los Angeles, homicide investigator Ty Labbe said.

Labbe said King is suspected of fatally stabbing Jermaine Tryon, 25, also of Lancaster. The incident occurred at 1:20 a.m. May 13 outside Schooner’s restaurant in Lancaster, sheriff’s deputies said.

King is a member of a Los Angeles-based street gang with a violent criminal history, Lebbe said.

Shelton Tryon, the victim’s father, said the arrest has brought some relief to his grieving family.

“We’re just so thankful they got him,” Shelton Tryon said. “It doesn’t bring Jermaine back, but it gives us some closure.”

State corrections officers and the Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau cooperated in the arrest.

Shelton Tryon praised the swiftness of the arrest.

“My heart goes out to those officers for the job they did arresting Michael King,” Shelton Tryon said.

“A lot of times we focus on the things (police) do that we don’t like, and I think it’s time we start showing them a lot more respect.

“When you lose someone and they apprehend the (suspect,) you realize their lives are on the line every day.”
