22 arrested in Moreno Valley gang sweep

Moreno Valley police arrested 22 people Wednesday during a multiagency gang sweep on two gangs in the city.

Agents, police officers and deputies from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, State Parole and the Riverside County sheriff’s Gang Task Force targeted members of two known gangs.

Police arrested 17 people on suspicion of felony crimes and five people on suspicion of misdemeanors. They served search warrants, arrest warrants, and parole and probation searches, according to a department statement. The 22 people arrested were being held on a combined bail of $3.3 million.

Police also seized 212 grams of marijuana, two grams of rock cocaine and eight weapons, according to the statement. Two children were also taken in by Children’s Protective Services on suspicion of child endangerment violations.
