Gang members suspected in Anaheim stabbing

ANAHEIM – A man in his 30s is recovering from stab wounds he suffered during an apparent gang-related attack early Monday morning, authorities said.
Officers responded at about 1:20 a.m. to reports of a man stabbed in the 300 block of South Canoga Place near Danbrook Avenue, Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn said.
The man was stabbed in the arm and upper body and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe the man was standing in front of an apartment complex when a group of five men approached him and asked about his gang affiliation, Dunn said.
“He ran from them and they stabbed him twice,” Dunn said, adding that the attack happened in the nearby alley.
The motive appears to be gang-related on the part of the attackers; not the victim, Dunn said.
A description of the attackers was not immediately available.
