Authorities are investigating two overnight homicides as possibly gang-related, including a drive-by shooting in East Los Angeles.

L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies said three men in a white car drove past two men standing near the 1500 block of Downey Road and opened fire from inside the vehicle. Deputy Oscar Butao said the two men had just been at a party.

The shooting occurred at 11:18 p.m. Saturday, and Manuel Barrios, 31, of Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. The man who was standing with Barrios was taken to the hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

Another shooting in South Los Angeles may also be gang-related, police said.

A 30-year-old woman died at about 2 a.m. after she was shot near 42nd and Main streets. MacWillie said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, but her identity was not released because her family has not yet been notified.
