NORTH HOLLYWOOD – A 24-year-old reputed Van Nuys gangster and three juveniles were arrested over the weekend in connection with sticking up a man on the streets of North Hollywood and stealing his wallet, and police were investigating whether the group committed a similar heist that occurred earlier.

Gabriel Manual Nunez, was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail on suspicion of robbery, said LAPD Detective Ron Fournier. His bail was set at $100,000. Three juveniles, ages 15-17, were also being held in connection with the case at Sylmar Juvenile Hall. Their names were not released because they are minors.

The group was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 7700 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard after a search with a police helicopter and dogs, Fournier said. Gang detectives were investigating whether the group were involved in a similar stickup that occurred about 45 minutes earlier at Victory Boulevard and Teesdale Avenue. No one was injured in the robberies.

Fournier said the group may have been new members of an undisclosed Van Nuys gang, “putting in work” for their gang. It was unknown why they were committing robberies outside of their turf, though, which could have had potentially deadly consequences if their rivals were to have stumbled upon them, Fournier said.
