SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco police are seeking help from any possible witnesses after a suspected gang member was gunned down in the city’s Bayview area.

Police say 24-year-old Kerry Dawson died after being shot multiple times as he sat in his car at an intersection around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators say Dawson’s car was riddled with more than a dozen bullets. They also found 12 to 15 shell casings at the scene from two different weapons.

Court records show Dawson was an alleged member of a gang called the Oakdale Mob.

In October 2006, San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera won a civil court order that banned 22 members of the gang from carrying guns, associating with one another and other activity within a four-block area around a public housing project

Dawson was gunned down two blocks outside the zone.
