“We are working with the (Riverside County) District Attorney’s office,” Dominguez said this week.

According to a council briefing by City Manager David Ready , “The Department continues to conduct research to file an injunction in the near future.”

No further details were provided by Dominguez.

Last month, a Riverside County Superior Court judge granted a preliminary injunction against Barrio Dream Homes, a violent criminal street gang in Cathedral City. Chief Stan Henry told The Desert Sun in a recent e-mail that the injunction “is working” and things are going well.

Members of Palm Springs’s Neighborhood Involvement Committee hailed the idea of a gang injunction a potentially effective tool to help cut down on crime. Joy Smith, the chair of the Racquet Club West neighborhood organization, said break-ins have been a problem in her area and an injunction could help curb that crime.
