Man shot in Salinas; police say drive-by was gang-related

A 22-year-old man was shot in his lower abdomen this afternoon in Salinas, police said.

The man was standing outside his house on the 200 block of Paloma Street about
3:40 p.m. when a black car pulled up and fired once, striking the man in his lower abdomen, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to recover, police said.

Salinas police Cmdr. Molfino said the shooting was “gang blankociated.”

Dispatchers had said the victim called to report the shooting and was conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Dispatchers said the man was being transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his left buttock and an exit wound to his right inner thigh.
