SAN DIEGO —A 20-year-old man caught over the weekend while allegedly trying to flee to Mexico after shooting a Bay Area police officer will be handed over to Oakland police soon, officials said.

Andrew Barrientos was the subject of a statewide manhunt after he allegedly shot a Fremont policeman in Oakland on Friday. He reportedly was spotted along Interstate 805 in Kearny Mesa at 2 p.m. Saturday, at about the same time that Oakland police alerted San Diego police that Barrientos was making his way to the Mexican border.

Dan Christman, a San Diego police spokesman, said federal agents and San Diego police officers started closely monitoring border crossings and approaches. Just before 4 p.m. SDPD Sgt. Jason Weeden saw two people, one of whom looked like a photograph of the suspect, in a van stopped in the 5700 block of Camiones Way, near the San Ysidro border crossing, Christman said.

Seems the problem is that the wrong ppoele keep getting elected into office that really should not be there. The problems with the gangs, etc etc etc, stem from the SAFE HAVEN atmosphere that the LIBERALS in this County and (Socialist) State have portrayed and thus allowed MANY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to come to this area and more are coming. Hold on to your seats because you are in for a LONG and Rough RIDE in more of these problems coming from VA.Voting scumbags in like O’Malley and Leggett (and the rest of the Liberal Dems in this county and state) will allow this problem to continue and probably will get worse before it gets better. These ppoele are trying to build a SOCIALIST STATE with total disregard as to what you have to say about it. Look at what Leggett did with the day labor site (you know the unemployment office for illegal immigrants THUMBED HIS NOSE AT THE MONGOMERY COUNTY TAXPAYER, used our tax dollars and built it anyway after it was turned down 31 times.Remember where there is socilism there is misery The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery-Winston Churchill
