Newark, NJ — Thirty-four alleged gang members have been arrested in a drugs and weapons ring in northern New Jersey.

Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow says the suspects include members of the Brick City Brim Bloods and the MOB Piru faction of the Bloods. Dow says 22 of those arrested have a history of violence.

The nine-month operation resulted in the confiscation of nearly 2,000 glassine bags and 153 grams of heroin, 41 grams of marijuana and $13,000 in cash. Authorities say the drugs were worth $31,000.

An assault rifle, a shotgun and five handguns were also seized.

The multi-agency “Operation Orange Crush” focused on dealers in Orange and East Orange who allegedly distributed drugs in those cities and in Newark.
