PORTLAND — A man was shot dead in downtown Portland early Sunday morning near NW 2nd and Couch in what appears to be a gang-related shooting.

Officers were clearing a disturbance a block away about 2 a.m. when shots rang out. Several people were seen running from the area.

More officers were quickly sent to the scene and police found a 20-year-old man with a wound from a handgun. He was taken to Oregon Health and Sciences University where he died, police said.

Mason Goché was a witness.

“There were dozens, you know, a hundred people fleeing, scurrying, running away,” he said, “There were people that were hitting the ground over there. Yeah, it was a madhouse.”

Portland Police are soft on Drugs. Criminals are allowed to buy and sell with no interferences from them. This is all due to Medical Marijuana Laws which have decreased the need to investigate. Gangs, and drugs come together. These incidents will increase, due to a faulty Police Bureau. Believe me, I know! Until we find stricter laws with regard to drugs and abuse, these people will be roaming the streets, getting into drug fights, and territory feuds. I never remember downtown as a shooting problem when I was working there over 30 years ago.

Gangs don’t necessarily fight over drug dealing turf. That this is a “drug fight” is a conclusion you drew out of…. nowhere?

Fully legalize marijuana and it will no longer be up to criminals to sell it.
