Chicago Police team up with gang enforcement unit to fight gang violence

CHICAGO — Superintendent Jody Weis met with two members of the Gang Enforcement Unit on Sunday to discuss possibilities about combating crime in Chicago Public Schools and preventing gang violence.

Commander Leo Schmitz and Sgt. Kenneth Boudreau both were in attendance at the press conference.

“Members of the School Safety Team have obtained information about gang related violence and have successfully intervened,” said Weis.

Sgt. Kenneth Boudreau said during the press conference, “What we see now is [teens] are asking for our help to get out of the street gang.”
