Two men were arrested on gang and shooting charges following a pursuit early Friday morning, Bakersfield police reported.

Officers heard several gunshots in the area of the 600 block of V Street at 1 a.m. and Senior Officer Jason Matson spotted a vehicle leaving the area with its headlights turned off.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver led officers on a five-minute, high-speed pursuit during which the suspects threw two guns out the windows, police said.

Both guns were recovered, and speeds reached up to 100 mph, police said.

The suspects eventually stopped in the area of Stockdale Highway and Gosford Road where both were arrested.

Arrested were Luis Satiago, 22, and Daniel Antonio Vasquez-Garcia, 27, on suspicion of shooting into an inhabited dwelling, firearm possession and participating in a street gang, police said.

Santiago was also arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle evading charges, while Vasquez-Garcia was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest charges, police said.

Investigation showed the suspects fired multiple shots at an occupied home in the 600 block of V Street. No one was injured in the shooting or during the pursuit.
