Authorities with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office on Friday announced the arrests of several wanted fugitives, including known gang members and a sex offender.

Jermaine Austell, 28, a member of the Bloods street gang and a convicted sex offender, was arrested at the home of his girlfriend on the first block of West Ingham Avenue in Trenton, authorities said.

Wanted on two superior court warrants in relation to theft and narcotics charges, he was found by authorities hiding in the attic beneath an old mattress and box spring, officials said.

He was also charged by the Trenton Police Department with failure to register as a sex offender under the provisions of Megan’s Law. He was also wanted on a federal probation warrant.

Austell served just shy of four years in state prison between 2005 and 2009 on narcotics convictions and a prior charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Before 2005, he served time in federal prison on weapons charges.

Austell was arrested in 2002 after attacking a 16-year-old on Martin Luther King Boulevard in the city.

Authorities also arrested Jamar Turner, 21. He was taken into custody at the home of a friend on the 100 block of Culbertson Avenue. He was wanted on a warrant issued by New Jersey Probation Services for violating the terms of his supervision program, authorities said. His fugitive status was discovered as detectives were at the residence investigating the whereabouts of Austell.

Turner, a member of the Sex Money Murder set of the Bloods street gang, served six months in state prison last year on drug dealing charges.
