Two reputed gang members will be arraigned today for allegedly carjacking a driver in Alhambra, robbing customers at a Monterey Park restaurant and trying to flee from police on the 71 Freeway,

The weekend crime spree ended when the stolen car crashed. Alhambra Police found a gun in the car.

The spree began about 8 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of West Valley Boulevard.

Two men with bandannas or some type of cloth covering their faces demanded a driver’s car keys, Alhambra Police Sgt. Jerry Johnson said.

He said one of the suspects brandished a gun.

The duo then drove off with the victim’s 2006 Toyota Camry.

Alhambra police sent out a broadcast to other law enforcement agencies about the carjacking.

Johnson said a car matching the description of the stolen Camry was used by suspects who robbed a restaurant in the 900 block of East Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park. He said the robbers took customers’ cell phones and personal property.

About 20 minutes after the robbery, he said Pomona police spotted the car at the 71 Freeway and Mission Boulevard. Police tried to pull over the vehicle but the driver fled.
