SALINAS, Calif. — A violent Sunday night in Salinas left one person dead and a teenager with gunshot wounds to the leg, police said.
Salinas police said they responded to reports of gunshots and a victim down in a parking lot at 1568 Falcon Drive at about 8 p.m. Sunday, where officers found Ivan Lopez Zepeda, 18, with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, police said.
Police said they performed CPR on Zepeda until emergency medical personnel arrived. He was transported to Natividad Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Before the shooting, a Hispanic man in his early 20s approached Zepeda while he was getting something from his vehicle, police said. Police said they did not know if anything was said between the two, but the gunman pulled out a handgun and shot Zepeda multiple times.
The gunman was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a white shirt and dark-colored pants. He was last seen getting into white, four-door sedan, possibly a Lincoln, which turned northbound onto Falcon Drive toward Boronda Road.

I think Salinas had 34 murders last year, in a city with 140,000 people. And every single killing was gang related. Gettin crazy over there.
