A search warrant executed at a Shafter home turned up much more than expected. Officers say they were looking for gang members suspected of trafficking methamphetamines and found a baby holding a crack-pipe.

Police arrested six suspected gang members and took five children ranging in age from two to five-years-old into protective custody. Investigators seized approximately one ounce of methamphetamine, 10 semi automatic weapons and more than $7,000 in cash as well as jewelry and drug packaging materials.

Kern County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Bonsness says the two-year-old girl was in a locked bedroom with her mother, 29-year-old Sandra Marisca. Bonsness was a member of the California Mutli-jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team that served the warrant at the home on Paseo De Pico in Shafter.
