CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — A leader of a Long Island street gang has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the 2004 murder of a fellow gang member.

Wilver Lopez received the sentence Tuesday in federal court in Central Islip. He pleaded guilty in August.

Federal prosecutors say Lopez and three other MS-13 members lured Venegas to a wooded area in Bethpage, N.Y., where they repeatedly shot and stabbed the 24-year-old victim.
