The second suspect in the September slaying of a 25-year-old baseball fan in the Dodger Stadium parking lot has been arrested, police said Wednesday.

Pete Marron, 19, of South Gate was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Rancho Cucamonga after police received a tip that the suspect was in the area, authorities said.

He pleaded not guilty to a murder charge at his arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

“Pete is the shooter in this case,” said Lt. Jorge Villegas of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police had Marron under surveillance and arrested him without incident during a traffic stop.

On Sept. 19, about 10 p.m., Marc Antenorcruz of Covina was walking in the stadium parking lot with his sister, brother and a friend, when an argument broke out with another group, which included Marron, police said.

“Despite what was reported, there is no information from anybody that the dispute was over the baseball teams,” Villegas said. “It was not about baseball.”

The dispute, which Villegas did not describe further, led to Antenorcruz being shot twice after a man he was arguing with pulled a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun from a truck, police said.

Antenorcruz was taken to nearby Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he died.

After the shooting, a man in a passing car followed the truck a short distance as it raced from stadium grounds, according to police. A passenger jotted down the plate number and gave it to police after returning to the stadium.

Manuel Hernandez, 33, was arrested a short time later and charged with one count of murder.

“Marron had been hiding out in several locations since the shooting,” Villegas said, adding that Marron’s bail had been set at $2 million.

Richard Vasquez, 19, who lives where Marron hid most recently, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of harboring a fugitive, Villegas said.
