A minimum-security inmate who escaped from a camp near Acton has been captured, officials said Saturday.

Miguel Velasquez, 22, escaped about 11:55 p.m. Thursday at his dorm at the Acton Conservation Camp, where Los Angeles County inmates are housed to help fight fires, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

He was captured Friday night near Anaheim, CDCR officials said.

Officials did not give further details about his capture.

Velasquez was serving a nearly 8-year sentence for vandalism and gang activity, authorities said. He was set to be released in early 2016.

Velasquez was described as Hispanic, 5-foot-9-inches tall, weighing 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Officials said he has a light complexion and bald head.
