Video: College Hoops: From Gang Leader to Popular Coach

From a young age Coach Nate Conner has been a basketball prodigy, starring for Grant High School in Van Nuys, Calif., the same school where the NBA’s star Gilbert Arenas got his start. He also starred for L.A. Valley College where he faced tough competition from future NBA players like the Nuggets’ Anthony Carter (who played for Saddleback Community College).

But beyond basketball, Conner connects with young players on another level, he once was a shot-caller for a large San Fernando Valley street gang. In this video hear how he turned his life around and how he says others can follow suit. There’s more to life than gang banging.
