NORTH HOLLYWOOD — Two suspected gang members have been arrested in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man at a gas station convenience store in North Hollywood.
The shooting occurred at an ARCO AM/PM store in the 6700 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Vanowen Street about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Bryan Lium of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Station.
A witness says a scuffle broke out between two groups at the gas station, and that guns were drawn and shots were fired.
When officers arrived at the scene they found several bullet casings on the ground.
A short time later, police learned that a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds had arrived at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, he said.
The victim, 19-year-old Sergio Ramirez of North Hollywood, was pronounced dead at the hospital, Lium said.
Nestor Otero, 25, and 19-year-old Brian Torres — both of North Hollywood — were arrested and booked for murder, according to police.
Investigators say the violence broke out between rival gangs.
