The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office will seek the death penalty against the 20-year-old gang member charged with killing 17-year-old high school football star Jamiel Shaw II.

Shaw was several doors from his Arlington Heights home on March 2, 2008, when two men in a car pulled up next to him, asked him if he belonged to a gang and then shot him when he apparently didn’t answer, authorities say.

Days later, police arrested the suspected trigger man, Pedro Espinoza, an 18th Street gang member. Espinoza is awaiting trial after being charged with murder with special circumstances in the killing.

Espinoza, an illegal immigrant, had been released from the Los Angeles County jail on a gun-related charge the day before Shaw was killed.

The district attorney’s office said a committee made up of about a dozen prosecutors determined that the death penalty was appropriate in the case after weighing aggravating circumstances against those that might lessen the charges.

The killing has sparked calls from the community to stop gang violence and set off a debate about a Los Angeles Police Department policy that prohibits officers from stopping or questioning people solely about their immigration status.

Shaw’s parents backed a failed petition drive aimed at getting a law passed that would allow police to arrest illegal-immigrant gang members solely for being in the country illegally and hand them over to federal authorities.

The city of Los Angeles protects these mexicans. Anything that would deem fit to harm illegals will not be pblanked. And people claim that Mexican gangs are taking over. Sure…since all the laws and the LA governor protects them as much as possible. As for faketeen on trial…U know damn well the Mayor of LA isn’t going to let that happen. He’ll get about 15 years probably.

This is what happens when the U.S. Constitution is’nt enforced. The criminals in Washington and their bosses, the international banks and corporations, have created this situation by design. The Mexican govt. does’nt care either, when the American people demand enforcement of our laws, the bullsh*% will stop, and all of these illegal scumbags will either go back where they came from or deal with us………I think they choose the former! Im saying the MOTHER f#@$kIN HI-HATS! By far my frvoaite gang it sucks they didnt have much scenes in the film but even so they r f#@$kin crazy blank mimes that r very f#@$kin creepy & full of surprises & The Rogues kinda just hid under the radar & fought like cowards with their cheap shots (literally & figurtively) they basically were a bunch of Anarchist bullys who played it smart & safe until they had 2 take action into their own hands which quite frankly didnt do them much good so yea my vote is 4 the Hi-Hats.
