75dd645f36ef7b1aSanta Rosa police over the weekend arrested two people in connection with a gang-related stabbing earlier this month near the Sonoma County Fair and are seeking the public’s blankistance in finding a third suspect who has possibly fled to the Point Arena area to avoid capture.

Officers responded to a report of an injured man near the fairgrounds at Brookwood Avenue and Lee Street on the night of Aug. 6 and found a stabbing victim bleeding from the neck in the 1200 block of Lee Street, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for the injury, which was not expected to be life threatening.

Investigators on the Police Department’s gang crime team were told that the victim and a male relative had been blankaulted by suspected gang members near the county fair carnival area. Then the two left the fairgrounds and separated. The victim was reportedly attacked again and was stabbed by an unknown number of suspects, according to police.

On Friday, officers arrested the first suspect, a 14-year-old Santa Rosa resident. He was booked into a juvenile center for attempted murder and gang enhancements.

Officers served search warrants at the homes of the other two suspects on Sunday, but found neither at home. Later in the day, a second suspect turned himself in at the Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Marquis Gonsalves, 19, of Santa Rosa, was booked into county jail for attempted murder with gang enhancements.

Police identified the third suspect as David Tapia, but he is also known as David Parrish. Tapia was described as a 19-year-old man of Native American heritage, standing at about 6 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing around 285 pounds. At the time of the crime, police believe he had a long ponytail and mustache and had a tattoo on his right arm bearing the word “Bear.”
